This article is part of the historiographic balance accomplished during the dissertation entitled The configuration and reconfiguration of  social sciences in basic education and high school in  Colombia: the   scope of oficial curriculum reforms (1945-2002) of the inter-institutional PhD in Education at Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. It is intended to approach the production on the recent history of the teaching of social sciences in Colombia, especially in connection with the study of the historical dynamics of these disciplines within the school to determine the fields that have been researched, as well as the advances, limitations and gaps that remain in this field. This research project is connected to social history from the perspective of overall story. It seeks to move forward in reconstructing curriculum reconfiguration and explaining the function of social knowledge at school in relation to different interests, demands, and social expectations. Therefore, it pretends to contribute to the global and critical understanding of society from an educational point of view; it also seeks to reveal the circumstances that determine the selection, synthesis, and formalization of social sciences’ educational discourses and contents and to analyze teaching patterns and practices with an educational intention.El presente artículo hace parte del balance historiográfico realizado en el marco del proyecto de tesis La configuración y  reconfiguración de  las   Ciencias Sociales escolares en  la  educación básica y media en Colombia: los   alcances de   las   reformas al  currículo oficial (1945-2002) del doctorado interinstitucional en Educación, sede Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas. Con él se pretende hacer una aproximación a la producción sobre la historia reciente de la enseñanza de las ciencias sociales en Colombia, especialmente de aquellas que se acercan a la indagación de las dinámicas históricas de las disciplinas escolares para determinar los ámbitos en que se han investigado, así como los avances, limitaciones y vacíos que persisten en este campo. Esta es una investigación enmarcada en la historia social desde la perspectiva de la historia total. Tratará de avanzar en la reconstrucción de los procesos de configuración curricular y en la explicación de la función del conocimiento social en la escuela en relación con los diferentes intereses, demandas y expectativas sociales. En este sentido, se pretende aportar por la comprensión global y  crítica  de  la  sociedad  desde  la  mirada  de  los  fenómenos  educativos,  como  también  develar  las  formas en que se produce la selección, síntesis y formalización de los discursos y contenidos educativos de las ciencias sociales y analizar las pautas y prácticas de enseñanza con sus intenciones formativas.
