Descripción :	This article has the aim of reflecting about some definitions that the terms text and speech receive in different research lines. The concepts work isolated or in group; in opposition or in complementarity; hierarquically or in a coordinate way. The analysis of this chart, more than identifying (the distinctions between the two terms – as they modify from a theoretical field to another – we tried to find the widest theoretical orientations that, in language studies, promote the distinctions and the use of both terms. Keywords: texto; discourse. Este artigo tem como objetivo refletir sobre algumas definições que os termos texto e discurso recebem em diferentes linhas de pesquisa. Verifica-se que os conceitos funcionam isoladamente ou em conjunto; em oposição ou em complementaridade; hierarquicamente ou de modo coordenado. Na análise desse quadro, mais do que identificar (as) distinções entre os dois termos – já que elas se modificam de um campo teórico para outro – buscamos encontrar as orientações teóricas mais amplas que, nos estudos sobre a linguagem, promovem as distinções e o emprego dos dois termos.
