dc.description	Since the beginning of humanity, sexuality and reproduction have been subjects of scientific and philosophical reflection, given the considerable impact they have on the development of human societies. For this reason, the issue of the use of emergency oral contraceptives is seen as a social problem that requires attention in Latin America, a place where various social asymmetries are present, such as: poverty, excessive population growth, violence, migration, unwanted pregnancies, among other factors that exacerbate the crisis in the regional context. In this vein, the article explores the ethical and philosophical dimension of the use of emergency oral contraceptives, pointing out the importance of its historical evolution, making it scientific, and the various ethical conflicts that researchers had to face in order to reach the methods known today. However, it does not lose sight of the existing difficulties on the subject - the population's ignorance, taboos and the culture of disinformation - constituting an additional challenge to this problem. The article does not pretend to arrive at a definitive position on the subject; on the contrary, it aspires to be a space for reflection and meeting between scientific-technical knowledge and theoretical-humanist.	en-US
dc.description	Desde los inicios de la humanidad, la sexualidad y la reproducción han sido temas de reflexión científica y filosófica, dada la considerable incidencia que tienen en el desarrollo de las sociedades humanas. Por este motivo, el tema del uso de anticonceptivos orales de emergencia se deja ver como un problema social que requiere de atención en América Latina, lugar donde se hacen presentes diversas asimetrías sociales, tales como: la pobreza, el crecimiento poblacional desmedido, la violencia, la migración, los embarazos no deseados, entre otros factores que agudizan la crisis en el contexto regional. En este orden de ideas, el artículo explora la dimensión ética y filosófica del uso de los anticonceptivos orales de emergencia, señalando la importancia de su evolución histórica, científica y de los diversos conflictos éticos a los que investigadores tuvieron que hacer frente para llegar a los métodos hoy conocidos. No obstante, no se pierde de vista las dificultades existentes en el tema -el desconocimiento de la población, los tabúes y la cultura de la desinformación- constituyéndose en un desafío adicional a esta problemática. El artículo no pretende llegar a una posición definitiva sobre el tema; por el contrario, aspira ser un espacio de encuentro entre el saber científico-técnico con la reflexión teórico-humanista.	es-ES
