Descripción :	To talk about the French theatre of the 20th century is to consider the avantgarde such as it was expressed by two paradigmatic fi gures of the new theatrical forms: Eugène Ionesco and Antonin Artaud. Theatrical theatre, pure theatre, body theatre, the avant-garde theatre aim to escape from the word’s domain, from the logos empire, to allow ourselves to be dominated only by thoughts, by the gesture, body and by the action. Falar sobre o teatro francês do século XX supõe, necessariamente, pensar a vanguarda tal qual enunciada por duas fi guras paradigmáticas das novas formas teatrais: Eugène Ionesco e Antonin Artaud. Teatro teatral, teatralidade pura, teatro do corpo, o teatro vanguardista busca desvencilhar-se do domínio da palavra, do império do logos, para deixar-se habitar – quiçá somente assombrar – unicamente pelo pensamento, pelo gesto – e pelo corpo – e pela ação.
