| Descripción : | The article is a refl ection about the evolution of the novel in the 20th century, its transformations with emphasis for the differences between the fi rst and the second parts of the century, both in content and form, evidencing that the crisis of the novel in the 20th century is part of the general crisis of our planetary culture in search for new referentials. The great lines of an aesthetics transforms itself in a civilization in great movement.

O artigo é uma refl exão sobre a evolução do romance no século XX, sobre suas transformações e, sobretudo, sobre o que opõe as criações da primeira e da segunda parte do século, tanto no conteúdo quanto na forma, evidenciando que a crise do romance no século XX se insere na crise geral de nossa cultura planetária em sua procura de novos referenciais.
