| Descripción : | This article discusses the reception of Michel Foucault’s work in Sociology and social theory. The discussion is initiated with the metaphor of the toolbox employed by Foucault himself. The aim is to characterize how the investigations of the French philosopher were received and criticized in this field of knowledge. The usual division of the author’s intellectual journey in three areas – archeology, genealogy and ethics – is criticized considering the written books as well as the disperse texts and courses of his authorship. Finally, this article presents aspects of his influence in Brazil, especially regarding the characteristics of the socalled disciplinary society. O texto discute a recepção dos trabalhos de Michel Foucault na Sociologia e na Teoria Social. A partir da metáfora da caixa de ferramentas, empregada pelo próprio Foucault, analisa como as investigações do filósofo francês foram recebidas e criticadas nesse campo de conhecimento. A divisão habitual do percurso intelectual do autor em três domínios – arqueologia, genealogia e ética – é problematizada, tendo em vista tanto os livros produzidos, quanto os textos dispersos e os cursos. Por fim, apresenta aspectos de sua influência no Brasil, especialmente no que diz respeito à caracterização da assim chamada sociedade disciplinar. |
