Descripción :	In recent years, diverse attempts of changes in the formations given to the policemen have been tried in all the country. The perspective of these experiences is that the education would transform practical actions into the policies, which would pass to respect more the rights of the citizens. In this text, this belief is criticized by the analysis on the way as the called education for the citizenship of the policemen has been carried through in the state of Sergipe. Nos últimos anos, diversas tentativas de mudanças nas formações dadas aos policiais têm sido postas em prática em todo o país. O pressuposto dessas experiências é que a educação transformaria as práticas vigentes nas polícias, os quais passariam respeitar mais os direitos dos cidadãos. Nesse texto, procura-se problematizar essa crença a partir da análise sobre o modo como a chamada educação para a cidadania dos policiais tem sido realizada no estado de Sergipe.
