| Descripción : | Este trabajo pretende reconstruir algunos hitos de la historia de la institucionalización de la especialidad en cirugía plástica en Argentina entre fines del siglo XIX y mediados del XX. El artículo pretende mostrar la relevancia que asumió la circulación internacional de conocimientos médicos surgidos en el marco de la Primera y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Asimismo, identifica los principales centros y pioneros locales que impulsaron el desarrollo de la cirugía plástica argentina en el período de entreguerras. Finaliza por marcar el momento de consolidación institucional de la especialidad a partir de la fundación de la Sociedad Argentina de Cirugía Plástica (SACP) en 1952. This paper aims to reconstruct some landmarks of the history of the institutionalization of the specialty of plastic surgery in Argentina between the late nineteenth and mid-twentieth centuries. The article aims to show the relevance assumed by the international circulation of medical knowledge arising in the context of the First and Second World War. It also identifies the main centers and local pioneers who promoted the development of Argentine plastic surgery in the interwar period. It ends by marking the moment of institutional consolidation of the specialty from the foundation of the Argentine Society of Plastic Surgery (SACP) in 1952. |
