Descripción :	Este artículo pertenece a un trabajo mayor que lleva por título El delito en San José: 1870:1900. Un intento de análisis historico-social del delito. Pretendemos con él cumplir los siguientes objetivos: 1. Efectuar una ubicación historiográfica de las obras e investigaciones que hasta el momento, desde nuestro punto de vista han sido relevantes en el tratamiento del tema. 2. Resaltar las características peculiares que presenta la provincia de San José, durante de la segunda mitad del siglo pasado es el espacio social, que reúne las condiciones de representatividad para desarrollar el problema del delito. This article belongs to a larger work entitled The crime in San José: 1870: 1900. An attempt at a historical-social analysis of crime. We intend with it to meet the following objectives: 1. Carry out a historiographical location of the works and research that up to now, from our point of view, have been relevant in the treatment of the subject. 2. Highlight the peculiar characteristics that the province of San José presents, during the second half of the last century is the social space, which meets the conditions of representation to develop the problem of crime.
