Descripción :	La presente nota expone un recorrido histórico de los inicios y continuidades de la metáfora de los “dos caminos” que se ofrecen a la opción humana: el del bien, que lleva a la vida, y el del mal, que lleva a la muerte, en relación con aquella de los “dos espíritus”, que se hacen presentes para inspirar al ser humano para ir por uno u otro de esos caminos. Así, se observa la presencia de esta caracterización, primero, en el mundo helénico, luego, en el oriente medio, en tercer lugar, en el mundo judío, en cuarto lugar, en los primeros textos cristianos (la “Didajé” y la Carta de Bernabé) y, finalmente, en “El Pastor de Hermas”, que se erige como el primer texto en la literatura cristiana que expone de manera sistemática y expresa esta doctrina del “discernimiento de espíritus”. The present note presents a historical overview of the beginnings and continuities of the metaphor of the “two ways” offered to human decision: that of good, which leads to life, and that of evil, which leads to death. This topic is analysed in relation to that of the “two spirits”, who show up to inspire Human beings to go down one or the other of these roads. Thus, we can observe the presence of this characterization, firstly, in the Hellenic world, then in the Middle East, thirdly, in the Jewish world, fourthly, in the first Christian texts (the “Didajé” and the Epistle of Barnabas) and, finally, in “The Shepherd of Hermas”, which stands as the first text in Christian literature that systematically exposes and expresses this doctrine of the “discernment of spirits”.
