Descripción :	Este trabajo discute el pensamiento de Tomás de Aquino respecto a la relación entre el intelecto y la voluntad en el acto del pensamiento especulativo de la naturaleza espiritual del alma humana. Se plantea que la influencia de las fuentes cristianas, particularmente San Agustín, le permite a Tomás concevir el conocimiento reflexivo de manera original. En él la voluntad no solo influenciaría en el ejercicio del intelecto sino también en su especificación. Así, la adherencia de la voluntad a ciertos objetos condicionaría el juicio acerca de la naturaleza del principio operacional definitivo de la reflexión. El conocimiento de uno mismo como sujeto espiritual se resolvería formalmente a sí mismo en voluntad libre. The paper discusses St. Thomas Aquinas’ thought on the relationship between intellect and will in the act of speculatively knowing the spiritual nature of the human soul. It is claimed that the influence of Christian sources, particularly St. Augustine, allows Aquinas to conceive reflective knowledge originally. In it the will would not only influence the exercise of the intellect, but also its specification. Thus, the will’s adherence to certain objects would condition judgement about the nature of the ultimate operational principle of reflection. Knowledge of the self as spiritual subject would formally resolve itself into free willing.
