Descripción :	"Soy artista, viajé a Londres en 1997 y me deportaron por el estereotipo negativo con el que me señalaron. Luego ellos mismos admitieron su equivocación en carta dirigida al gobierno colombiano expresando: Debo recalcar que el oficial de inmigración no tenia presente la posición del Sr. Jacanamijoy en Colombia como artista. Adicionalmente pudo haber habido alguna confusión en cuanto a los ingresos del Sr. Jacanamijoy, el oficial estaba confrontado con un joven de medios aparentemente modestos... "" Y en Colombia, la Revista Semana, en un marcado contraste de estereotipo paternalista hacia el indio, en un destacado artículo señaló: ""Quienes lo conocen personalmente sólo tienen palabras de elogio y admiración hacia este artista del Putumayo... ""[...Jeste joven que a pesar de haber alcanzado un destacado lugar en el ámbito artístico nacional sigue manteniendo la sencillez y la cordialidad de su raza. "" Analizando el tratamiento que le dieron la carta del Reino Unido y la Revista Semana, en este trabajo escrito en primera persona desde mi condición de indígena, problcmatizo esc incidente para comprender las estrechas relaciones entre lo cultural y lo político. La estercotipificación racializada tratada describe dos fenómenos culturales: primero, xenofobia y estercotipificación negativa en Inglaterra y segundo, estercotipificación paternalista en Colombia. Indicando disputas sedimentadas, junto al racismo mediático se aborda también el problema de la ideología." I am an artist. I traveled to London in 1997 and I was deported because of the negative stereotype with I was classified. Later they admitted their mistake in a letter to the Colombian government: I must stress the immigration officer did not bore in mind the position of Mr. Jacanamijoy in Colombia as a well-known artist. Additionally there could some confusion about the income of Mr. Jacanamijoy, because the officer was facing a young man with an apparently modest income. In Colombia, the Scmana review, in a marked contrast to the paternalistic stereotype of the indigenous people, pointed out in a long article: Who know him personally have only words of praise for this artist from Putumayo... [...] this young man who in spite of having reached an outstanding position in the national art field still keeps the simplicity of his race. Analizing the treatment given to him in the letter of the United Kingdom and the Scmana review, in this text written in the first person and from my indigenous condition, I make problematic this incident to understand the close relations between the cultural and political fields. The racist stereotyping in England first and later the paternalistic stereotyping in Colombia describe the two cultural phenomena: First, the negative xenophobia and stereotyping in England and second, the paternalistic stereotyping in Colombia.
