Descripción :	La disposición final de los residuos sólidos en Bucaramanga presenta problemas ambientales, sociales y políticos, que han llevado a que en la actualidad se ordene la reubicación del relleno sanitario “El Carrasco”, a causa del fallo en segunda instancia del tribunal administrativo de Bucaramanga, como resultado de la acción popular interpuesta por los habitantes del barrio El Porvenir. Se busca describir la línea de tiempo de la historia del relleno sanitario El Carrasco, con el fin de identificar los problemas ambientales que afectan la comunidad. Para lo cual se hizo necesario realizar una investigación exhaustiva para recolectar información técnica relacionada con las características del relleno sanitario, la normatividad, las alternativas en el corto y mediano plazo, las estrategias para el tratamiento de residuos sólidos que permiten disminuir el ingreso de residuos a este sitio de disposición final. Para la recolección de la información se recurre a investigar en textos universitarios, normas, visitas de identificación de aspectos técnicos al relleno sanitario, y entrevistas dirigidas a actores fundamentales que giran en torno a “El Carrasco”. Posteriormente se analiza la información recolectada, se plantean alternativas de solución y finalmente se realizan las conclusiones. Como aspectos relevantes se menciona la necesidad en el corto plazo de fortalecer la separación en la fuente de los residuos sólidos, el fomento de las políticas públicas que contribuyen a disminuir la afectación en los elementos bióticos y abióticos que conforman el ambiente alrededor del relleno sanitario, aumentar el porcentaje de residuos sólidos reciclados y la necesidad de avanzar hacia nuevas tecnologías de aprovechamiento de residuos sólidos en el país. It seeks to describe the timeline of the history of the El Carrasco landfill, in order to identify environmental problems that affect the community. For this reason it was necessary to carry out an exhaustive investigation to collect technical information related to the characteristics of the landfill, the regulations, the alternatives in the short and medium term, the strategies for the treatment of solid waste that allow reducing the entry of waste to This final disposal site. For the collection of information, research is used in university texts, standards, visits to identify technical aspects of the landfill, and interviews aimed at key actors that revolve around “El Carrasco”. Subsequently, the information collected is analyzed, alternative solutions are proposed and finally the conclusions are made. As relevant aspects, the need is mentioned in the short term to strengthen the separation at the source of solid waste, the promotion of public policies that contribute to reducing the impact on the biotic and abiotic elements that make up the environment around the landfill, Increase the percentage of recycled solid waste and the need to move towards new technologies for using solid waste in the country.
