| Descripción : | This article is an interpretation of the discourses about their others that intellectualsproduced during the second half of the 19th century, in what today is Colombia. Through the critical reading of the writings produced by these scholars, it clearly appears how the writing of prehispanic history of Colombia was transformed into a battlefield and a key practice for the elaboration of a discourse about the nation. In this way, representing the natives of the past turned into a debate about the present and the future of the republic. Lastly, this article suggests that this discursive production can be divided into two big moments, which are not completely opposed to one another, nor are they internally homogeneous. Este artículo realiza una interpretación de los discursos que sobre sus otros en el tiempo produjeron algunos letrados del siglo xix, en lo que hoy es Colombia. A través de la lectura crítica de los textos producidos por estos eruditos se muestra cómo la escritura de la historia antigua “colombiana” se transformó en un campo de batalla y en una práctica clave para la elaboración de un discurso sobre la nación; de esta forma representar a los indígenas del pasado fue también debatir sobre el presente y el futuro de la república. Finalmente se plantea que esta producción discursiva puede ser dividida en dos grandes momentos, que no están, por supuesto, totalmente contrapuestos entre sí, ni son homogéneos internamente. |
