Descripción :	Political cartoon as an artistic and opinion expression is accompanied by a series of daily social, political and imaginary antecedents that enhance the construction and understanding of social reality. Thus, it is important to understand the way in which this means of communication potentiates the understanding of a fact, situation or historical moment. The satire, the mockery and the graphic line that each artist gives contributes to a specific understanding of the world. The point of view, in this case that of Julio César González (Matador), in the cartoons has represented a singular format that points directly to the country's politics. During the years in which his cartoons have been published in the newspaper El Tiempo, they have shown not only their critical attitude towards corruption, injustice and politics, but also they have become a reference for those who want to "understand" the scope of a media topic. In this way, the complete analysis of his work, which includes politicians, issues and complaints, makes it possible to recognize a lack of political culture in the country, and this is the reason why people are deceived by wrong ideas and messages in the face of social and political reality, as happened on October 2, 2016 in the plebiscite. This work then seeks to analyze the historical facts that are represented by the cartoons published in the newspaper El Tiempo and more specifically those found in the illustrated book Matando el tiempo by the publisher Intermedio, launched in 2016. From this book, 40 cartoons will be extracted. These cartoons highlight the political role of important well-known persons or moments that had transcendental significance in political life and marked the situation for Matador to shape public opinion. In this way, it is intended to understand the social reality of the country, by analyzing theories that allow an approach to how people and/or the cartoonist himself feel regarding the country in a given moment and how these artistic expressions in turn affect the perception about politics in the citizens. La caricatura como expresión artística y de opinión viene acompañada de una serie de antecedentes sociales, políticos e imaginarios cotidianos que potencian la construcción y entendimiento de la realidad social. De esta manera, es importante comprender la forma en la cual este medio de comunicación potencializa la comprensión de un hecho, situación o momento histórico. La sátira, la burla y la línea gráfica que le aporta cada dibujante ayuda a una comprensión específica del mundo. El punto de vista, en este caso el de Julio César González (Matador), en las caricaturas ha representado un formato singular que apunta de manera directa a la política del país. Durante los años en que sus caricaturas se han publicado en el periódico El Tiempo, han dejado ver no solo su talante crítico frente a la corrupción, la injusticia y la política, sino también se han vuelto un referente para quienes quieren “entender” el alcance de un tema mediático. De esta forma, el análisis completo de su trabajo, que incluye políticos, temas y denuncias, hace propicio el reconocimiento de una falta de cultura política dentro del país, por lo cual las personas se dejan llevar de ideas y mensajes errados frente a la realidad social y política, como lo sucedido el 2 de octubre de 2016 en el plebiscito. Este trabajo, entonces, pretende analizar los hechos históricos que se encuentran representados mediante las caricaturas publicadas en el periódico El Tiempo y más específicamente aquellas del libro ilustrado Matando el tiempo de la editorial Intermedio, lanzado en el año 2016 (González, 2016). De este libro se extraerán 40 caricaturas que resaltan el rol político de personajes o momentos que tuvieron hechos trascendentales en la vida política y marcaron la situación para que Matador los plasmara a la opinión pública. De esta manera, se pretende comprender la realidad social del país, analizando teorías que permitan un acercamiento a cómo las personas y/o el mismo caricaturista se sienten frente al país en un tiempo determinado y cómo a su vez estas expresiones artísticas afectan la percepción sobre política en los ciudadanos.
