Descripción :	In the last decades, severals international organizations have an interest to re-formulate, in a scientific and politicaly way, the organizational propose of the “Third Sector”and “Social Economy”. This article shows a vision of the origins, features and manifestations of the “Third Sector” and “Social Economy” in Costa Rica, how the different professionals of Social Work have been involved with the organizations of the “Third Sector” in the national environment. En las últimas décadas, diversas organizaciones internacionales manifiestan un interés por reformular científica y políticamente la propuesta organizacional del “Tercer Sector” y la “Economía Social”. Por tal motivo, el presente artículo pretende dar un panorama de los orígenes, las características y manifestaciones del “Tercer Sector” y la “Economía Social” en Costa Rica, así como el tipo de involucramiento que tienen diversos profesionales de Trabajo Social con las organizaciones de este sector, en el ámbito nacional.
