dc.descriptionKnowledge and beliefs about child rearingove r time has been considered as an exclusive task of the mother. There are fundamental premises that have been handed down from grandmothers to mothers and young mothers. However, with the globalization of knowledge and acculturation that has been produced by the mobility of peoples, these premises have been changed and even forgotten. The purpose of this article is to detect and evaluate the practices and raising experiences of grandmothers and mothers of the communities of Cotopaxi from the point of view of the rescue of knowledge, through the description of activities of their own environment. The methodology has a historical heuristic approach, characterized by the application of a semistructured questionnaire to investigate and transcribe the experiences lived by the grandmothers, mothers and young mothers, the knowledge and practices that they performed in the stage of rearing their newborn children and the care of the mother after childbirth.   From the perspective of respect for ancestral knowledge, it is important to preserve these beliefs and practices of ancestral culture in order to maintain the intercultural identity and diversity of the Ecuadorian people, which will undoubtedly remain throughout history    en-US
dc.descriptionLos conocimientos y creencias sobre la crianza de los hijos a lo largo del tiempo se haconsiderado como una tarea exclusiva de la madre. Existen premisas fundamentales que han sido transmitidas de abuelas a madres y a madres jóvenes; sin embargo, con la globalización del conocimiento y la aculturación que se ha producido por la movilidad de los pueblos se han cambiado y hasta olvidado aquellas. La finalidad de este artículo es detectar y valorar las prácticas y experiencias de crianza de abuelas y madres de las comunidades de Cotopaxi desde el punto de vista del rescate de saberes, mediante la descripción de actividades propias de su entorno. La metodología tiene un enfoque histórico heurístico, caracterizado por la aplicación de un cuestionario semiestructurado, para indagar y transcribir las experiencias vividas por las abuelas, madres y madres jóvenes, los saberes y prácticas que ellas realizaron en la etapa de crianza de sus hijos recién nacidos y en el cuidado de la madre después el parto. Desde la perspectiva del respeto a los saberes ancestrales es importante conservar estas creencias y prácticas de cultura ancestral para mantener la identidad intercultural y diversidad del pueblo ecuatoriano, que sin duda permanecerán a través de la historia.es-ES
