dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the National Exhibition of Catholic Missions of 1924, which took place in Bogotá (Colombia), as part of the preparations for the Vatican Exposition of Missions of 1925 convened by Pius XI. In the case of Colombia, the exhibition responded to the discourses of progress of the conservative hegemony of the late 19th and the early 20th century, characterized by a rapprochement between the Government and the Catholic Church through the Concordat of 1887. Both the exhibition and the National Congress of Missions were spaces of legitimization of the national project, and sought to justify the continuity of the missionaries’ work throughout the national territory.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo analiza la Exposición Nacional de Misiones de 1924, que tuvo lugar en Bogotá (Colombia), como parte de los preparativos para la Exposición de Misiones del Vaticano de 1925 convocada por Pío XI. En el caso colombiano, la exposición respondió a los discursos de progreso de la hegemonía conservadora de finales del siglo xix e inicios del xx, caracterizados por un acercamiento entre el gobierno y la Iglesia Católica a través del Concordato de 1887. Tanto la exposición como el Congreso Nacional de Misiones fueron espacios de legitimación del proyecto nacional de la época y buscaron justificar la continuidad del trabajo de los misioneros a lo largo del territorio nacional.es-ES
