Descripción :	This essay studies the intersections of science and politics in the journey and writings of Humboldt on the American continent. Following Bruno Latour’s theory on the way in which science interacts with multiple aspects of social life, an interaction that in turn influences the definition of its object of study, this essay proposes that Humboldt played a fundamental role in American and World politics of the first decades of the nineteenth century. It analyzes the transfer and mobilization of objects, the debate on the inferiority of American man, and the study of mines carried out by Humboldt not only as a scientific treatise but also political and economic. Este ensayo estudia los entrecruzamientos de ciencia y política en el viaje y escritos de Humboldt sobre continente americano. Siguiendo la teoría de Bruno Latour sobre el modo en que la ciencia interactúa con múltiples aspectos de la vida social, interacción que a su vez influye en la definición de su objeto de estudio, se propone que Humboldt cumplió un rol fundamental en la política americana y mundial de las primeras décadas del siglo XIX. Se analiza el traslado y movilización de objetos, el debate sobre la inferioridad del hombre americano, y el estudio de las minas realizado por Humboldt no sólo como un tratado científico sino también político y económico.
