Descripción :	Desde la Antigüedad hasta hoy, desde Adorno a Zamacois, innumerables personalidades del mundo de la filosofía, del arte, de la pedagogía, de la ciencia y de la cultura se han manifestado en favor de las ventajas de la educación musical como parte de la formación integral de la persona. Sin embargo la idea subyacente sobre el uso y función de la música ha permanecido con pocas excepciones sin un fundamento científico que les diera el respaldo definitivo que se merecerían. Realmente sabemos aún poco sobre los efectos de transferencia empíricamente demostrables que una relación intensa con la música (esto es, más allá de la hora de música semanal que el sistema educativo español prescribe para la Educación Obligatoria en nuestro país y que a veces ni siquiera se cumple en muchas escuelas) tendría sobre el desarrollo de niños(2) y jóvenes. En un mundo cada vez más tecnificado en donde la música va adoptando papeles que se apartan del campo educativo incluso en aquellos países en los que tradicionalmente la educación musical general disfrutaba de un privilegiado estatus, tendríamos que ser capaces de convencer a la sociedad de la importancia de la práctica musical continuada como mejor medio de enfrentarse al amplio espectro de (sub)culturas musicales que vienen aflorando incesantemente unas tras otras desde los últimos años del pasado siglo. From ancient times until now, from Adorno to Zamacois, countless personalities from the world of philosophy, art, pedagogy, science and culture have expressed themselves in favor of the advantages of music education as part of the formation Integral of the person. However the underlying idea about the use and function of music has remained with few exceptions without a scientific basis that would give them the definitive support that they would deserve. We still know very little about the empirically demonstrable transfer effects that an intense relationship with music (that is, beyond the hour of weekly music that the Spanish educational system prescribes for Compulsory Education in our country and that sometimes is not even met In many schools) would have on the development of children (2) and young people. In an increasingly technological world where music is taking on roles that deviate from the educational field even in countries where traditional music education has traditionally enjoyed privileged status, we should be able to convince society of the importance of Continued musical practice as the best way to deal with the wide spectrum of (sub) musical cultures that have been unceasingly appearing one after another since the last years of the last century.
