Inclusion of migrant students in a Chilean school: Challenges for school leadership practices

dc.description	Due to the intensification of migration in Chile and the increase in the national enrollment of migrant students, it is necessary to research how public schools are facing the processes of educational inclusion. This study aims to understand the principal leadership practices in relation to the inclusion process of migrant students and the challenges that a public school must face in one of the areas with a high migrant population. The present unique case study carried out semi-structured interviews and a focus group with different participants from the educational community. The main results revealed that although there are access opportunities, there are also institutional challenges to establish leadership guidelines that allow the monitoring and follow-up of migrant students, focusing the discussion on the urgency of promoting a better inclusive and intercultural education to the whole school community.	en_US
dc.description	Ante la intensificación de la migración hacia Chile y el aumento en la matrícula nacional de estudiantes migrantes, es necesario indagar cómo las escuelas públicas están afrontando los procesos de inclusión educativa. Esta investigación busca comprender las prácticas de liderazgo escolar en relación al proceso de inclusión de estudiantes migrantes y los desafíos que debe afrontar una escuela municipal de una de las comunas con alta población migrante. En el presente estudio de caso único, se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas y un grupo focal a distintos participantes de la comunidad educativa. Sus principales resultados revelan que, si bien se identifican oportunidades de acceso, existen diversos desafíos institucionales para establecer lineamientos directivos que permitan el monitoreo y seguimiento de estudiantes migrantes, centrando la discusión en la relevancia de promover una mejor educación inclusiva e intercultural a toda la comunidad educativa.	es_ES
