This work derives from the European Project 'Policies Supporting Young People in their Life Course. A Comparative Perspective of Lifelong Learning and Inclusion in Education and Work in Europe (Young Adullt) and seeks to make visible fragments of the lives of young people who neither study nor work (Ni-Ni), in the context of the Spanish economic crisis, in order to verify the existence of a mismatch in their transitions between training and employment, which hinders the attainment of an independent life. The methodology used gives this study a qualitative perspective materialized through biographical interviews with eight young Spaniards, enrolled in the Youth Guarantee programme and in a situation of inoperative training and employment. It is evident that the laxity of family, educational and labour links degrade the social rights of the most vulnerable young people. The challenges are the deconstruction of the 'NEET' label, as it does not reflect the heterogeneity of situations in which a young person finds himself during his trajectory; and the creation of effective social policies.
Este trabajo deriva del Proyecto Europeo ‘Policies Supporting Young People in their Life Course. A Comparative Perspective of Lifelong Learning and Inclusion in Education and Work in Europe (Young Adullt) y busca visibilizar fragmentos de vida de jóvenes que ni estudian ni trabajan (Ni-Ni), en el contexto de la crisis económica española, para comprobar la existencia de un desajuste en sus transiciones entre la formación y el empleo, lo que dificulta la consecución de una vida independiente. La metodología utilizada confiere a este estudio una perspectiva cualitativa, materializada mediante entrevistas biográficas a ocho jóvenes españoles, inscritos en el programa Garantía Juvenil y en situación de inoperancia formativa y laboral. Se evidencia que la laxitud de los vínculos familiares, educativos y laborales degradan los derechos sociales de los jóvenes más vulnerables. Se plantea como desafíos, la deconstrucción de la etiqueta 'Ni-Ni', pues no refleja la heterogeneidad de situaciones en las que se encuentra un joven en el transcurso de su trayectoria; y la creación de políticas sociales efectivas.
