dc.description	This article summarizes some of the research results in relation to the current changes regarding social protection in Latin America, taking as a reference the South American case. in this regard, we start from the presupposition that the transformations stirred up by the 1970s crisis that took place within the capitalist scope, will require the implementation of changes in the State that will have an impact on social protection. Within the context of a crisis, the social issues tend to get worse exacerbated and show the alteration of its immediate manifestations; at the same time, there are changes in the social mechanisms of intervention, especially the strategies supported in welfare and punitive actions. We are aware that the changes in the intervention of the social scope are a key aspect in the development of the required conditions for capital accumulation and valorization in today’s world.	en-US
dc.description	El presente artículo sintetiza algunos de los resultados de las investigaciones sobre los cambios actuales en la protección social en América Latina, tomando como referencia la realidad de los países del Cono Sur. Para ello, partimos del presupuesto de que las transformaciones acontecidas en la dinámica capitalista, a partir de la crisis de la década de 1970, van a exigir cambios en el Estado que impactarán en la organización de la protección social. En ese contexto de crisis la cuestión social se agudiza y presenta algunas alteraciones en sus manifestaciones inmediatas; al mismo tiempo se perciben cambios en los mecanismos de intervención sobre las expresiones de la cuestión social, donde se destacan las estrategias apoyadas en acciones asistenciales y punitivas. Entendemos que esos cambios en la intervención sobre la cuestión social son una pieza central para crear las condiciones necesarias para la valorización y acumulación del capital en la contemporaneidad.	es-ES
