dc.description	The purpose is to reflect on the interpretive reading of contemporary geographic reality in school geography. The questioning is due to school geography is limited to detailing physical and natural aspects of the landscape and it avoids analysis of the phenomena derived from the relations between society and nature. This implies to propose pedagogical options that are feasible to explain, as objects of study in daily school activity, the complex geographical events of the globalized world, as a basic task of teaching this discipline, at the beginning of the new millennium. Methodologically, bibliographic review was carried out, then an explanation about the situation of school geography and an interpretive reading of contemporary geographic reality is structured. It concludes by highlighting as a challenge of school geography, promoting the exercise of pedagogical leadership in school, stimulating research on the constructive understanding of current geographical conditions and contributing to strengthening literacy of humanizing critical awareness.	en-US
dc.description	El propósito es reflexionar sobre la lectura interpretativa de la realidad geográfica contemporánea en la geografía escolar. El cuestionamiento obedece a estar limitada a detallar los aspectos físico-naturales del paisaje y esquivar el análisis de los fenómenos derivados de las relaciones de la sociedad con la naturaleza. Eso implica proponer opciones pedagógicas factibles para explicar, como objetos de estudio en el trabajo escolar cotidiano, los complejos sucesos geográficos del mundo globalizado, como tarea básica de la enseñanza de esta disciplina, en el inicio del nuevo milenio. Metodológicamente, se realiza la consulta bibliográfica, luego se estructura una explicación sobre la situación de la geografía escolar y la lectura interpretativa de la realidad geográfica contemporánea. Concluye, al resaltar como desafío de la geografía escolar, promover el ejercicio del protagonismo pedagógico en la escuela, estimular la investigación sobre la comprensión constructiva de las condiciones geográficas actuales y contribuir con la alfabetización fortalecedora de la conciencia crítica humanizadora.	es-ES
