Citizen Education is today, more than ever, a priority objective in the formation and education of young people who will have to face a society in continuous changes and conflicts originating in both value and socio-political and cultural visions. To contribute to achieving these objectives, this article proposes to formulate the citizen competences, from a controversial perspective, it means, from the reality of society where tensions and conflicts are expressed daily. This pedagogical approach encourages students to analyze the society in which they live; It allows to set the citizen issues in a space that favors dialogue between them, accustoms them to a respectful listening to opposing positions, to giving arguments and proposing solutions. This makes them aware of their potential as future citizens to help build a more just, equal and fraternal society.
La Educación Ciudadana es hoy, más que nunca, un objetivo prioritario en la formación de los jóvenes que deberán enfrentar una sociedad en continuos cambios y conflictos originados tanto en visiones valóricas como socio-políticas y culturales. Para contribuir a alcanzar estos objetivos, este artículo propone formular las competencias ciudadanas, desde una perspectiva controversial, es decir, a partir de la realidad de la sociedad donde se expresan diariamente tensiones y conflictos. Este enfoque pedagógico estimula a los estudiantes a analizar la sociedad en que viven; permite plantear los temas ciudadanos en un espacio que favorece el diálogo entre ellos, los habitúa a una escucha respetuosa de posiciones contrarias, a dar argumentos y proponer soluciones. Así los hace conscientes de su potencial como futuros ciudadanos para ayudar construir una sociedad más justa, igualitaria y fraterna.
