This paper is dedicated to an interpretive approach to Anthony Giddens’ The Third Way. First, to the genesis of the basic concept and its relation with philosophy; second, to the general concepts which condition the third way concept; third, to the critique of the work’s main arguments, involving socialism and its dilemmas, the role of the State, and the link with the global era; fourth, to the philosophical and juridical objec-tions to Giddens’ statements; and, finally, to a closing, in which it is determined the reasons for which welfare State and neoliberalism cannot be subject neither of a synthesis nor of an integration by means of a third way as it is proposed by Kant and Hegel.
