dc.description This article presents some tools of discourse analysis that are useful in analyzing and understanding different segments of an oral narrative. The main objective of this article is to explain and exemplify different concepts regarding the field of discourse analysis in order to study an oral anecdote in regard to danger of death recorded from a native speaker of English. It emphasizes the use of spoken texts (either scripts or recorded narrations) as primary sources of authentic features of the spoken language.
