| dc.description | This article presents the results of a research project carried out as part of the academic program of Social Sciences Education at Universidad del Bío Bío, Chile, with the intention of building geographical knowledge and skills by means of the action research method, in order to improve the geographical thinking of the students taking the class “Man, society and territory”, which is taught during the second academic year of the program. Throughout history, education professionals in Chile have considered geography as rote learning with no didactics nor the ability to fascinate students or help them develop a critical, reflective and inclusive mentality in connection with their environment. This research project focuses on developing research skills so that students gain geographical knowledge, a goal that was accomplished through direct and indirect observation of their surroundings. | en-US |
| dc.description | En el presente artículo se entregan los resultados de la investigación desarrollada en la carrera Pedagogía en Historia y Geografía de la Universidad del Bío Bío, Chile, que tuvo como fin construir conocimientos y habilidades geográficas mediante la implementación de la metodología investigación acción, para así perfeccionar el pensamiento geográfico de los estudiantes de la cátedra Hombre, sociedad y territorio, impartida en segundo año de la carrera. La geografía para los profesionales de la educación en Chile, a lo largo de la historia, siempre ha sido tratada como una rama memorística sin didáctica y que es incapaz de encantar a los estudiantes, y menos de desarrollar una mentalidad crítica, reflexiva e integradora de los alumnos con su entorno. El énfasis en esta investigación es desarrollar capacidad indagatoria y que los estudiantes adquieran conocimientos geográficos, lo cual fue logrado por medio de las actividades de observación directa e indirecta de su entorno. | es-ES |
