| dc.description | This article outlines the understanding of the concepts of perimeter and area by some students of a school in a coffee-growing region in Antioquia, in the context of coffee planting. This research project seeks to find a relationship between the geometric and colloquial languages within coffee farming; bearing in mind that the latter can influence the understanding of the former, this study is part of the qualitative paradigm. The motivation to tackle this work lies in the difficulties students manifested in learning mathematical concepts because they lack proper management of that language. Therefore, we expect to promote understanding, obtaining the corresponding mathematical significance and the contextual meaning of mathematical expressions used. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente artículo se expone la comprensión de los conceptos de perímetro y área por parte de algunos estudiantes de una institución educativa de una región cafetera antioqueña en el contexto de la siembra del café. La intencionalidad de la investigación es encontrar una relación entre los lenguajes geométrico y coloquial dentro de la agricultura del café, y teniendo en cuenta que el segundo puede influir en la comprensión del primero, el estudio se enmarca dentro del paradigma cualitativo. La motivación para abordar este trabajo radica en las dificultades que los estudiantes manifiestan en el aprendizaje de conceptos matemáticos, porque carecen de un manejo adecuado de ese lenguaje. Por lo tanto, se espera promover la comprensión, consiguiendo la correspondiente significación matemática y el sentido contextual de las expresiones matemáticas utilizadas. | es-ES |
