| dc.description | This article shows a historical overview of a scientific research project that I have designed, implemented and led with my group of young researchers on the dengue virus (DENV), which produces the most common viral disease in Colombia. Basically, it intends to show that the scientific activity has paid off and has raised reflections that go beyond the walls of laboratories providing evidence that make us somewhat optimistic. In a localized and situated manner, in our groupwe have learned that knowledge is socially constructed and that our laboratory is part of what is known as an epistemic culture. In the short time of its existence, the group has experienced tensions, hopes and expectations as well as the need to create itsown research niche. In short, the essential tools for addressing a social problem such as dengue can only be obtained from a multidisciplinary perspective. In this endeavor, the contribution of humanists is critical, but this has been really difficult to achieve in our current context. Therefore, this text is an invitation to our colleagues in the social sciences to include relevant issues in their agendas, in addition to the theoretical or metaphysical topics, that have been critical for our Western intellectual culture. | en-US |
| dc.description | Se muestra un panorama histórico sobre la investigación científica que he diseñado, implementado y liderado con mi grupo de jóvenes investigadores sobre el virus dengue (DENV), que produce la enfermedad viral más frecuente en Colombia. Se pretende en esencia mostrar que el trabajo científico hecho ha rendido frutos y suscitado reflexiones más allá de los muros del laboratorio y nos ha aportado evidencias que nos vuelven algo optimistas. Hemos aprendido en nuestro grupo de trabajo, de manera localizada y situada, que el conocimiento se construye socialmente y que nuestro laboratorio está haciendo parte de lo que se conoce como una cultura epistémica. En el poco tiempo de existencia hemos percibido las tensiones, ilusiones y expectativas que se viven en el grupo, así como la necesidad de crear el propio nicho de investigación. En resumidas cuentas, las herramientas esenciales para el abordaje de problemas sociales como el dengue solo podrían realizarse desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar. Para su desarrollo, la contribución de los humanistas es decisiva, pero en verdad en nuestro contexto actual ha sido muy difícil de conseguir. Por lo cual esta presentación es una invitación a los colegas de las ciencias sociales, para que incluyan en sus agendas problemas pertinentes, además de los teóricos o metafísicos, que han sido muy importantes en los pilares de nuestra cultura intelectual occidental. | es-ES |
