dc.description This article intends to offers food for thought about continuous teacher training in virtual environments from the perspective of the development of teaching competencies. To do this, first, the concept of competency is dissected to be related later on with teaching competency. Secondly, the link between virtual learning environments and continuous teacher training is deeply explored, establishing theoretical principles and didactic criteria for its implementation. Finally, the two items are combined addressing the pedagogical implications and the development of teaching competencies from the virtual continuous training of teachers, establishing conclusions about it.
