dc.descriptionIn this text I present a theoretical reflection on the relationship be- tween the notion of the “spirit of time”, in German “Zeitgeist”, the concept of representation and the theory of social representations, based on a review of the state of the art in the context of contemporary France. The notion of the spirit of time has been a relevant reference in the field of media culture in the last two decades. The relationship between the spirit of time and the theory of social representations can be approached by considering representation as the content of the spirit of time and/or as its result, that is, as a system of ideas that guides the positions of the public. The approach that is then required is to distinguish clearly, in the analysis of the spirit of time the part corresponding, when it has to do with a particular problem, to a system of social representations that serves as a basis for identyfing the positions adopted by individuals or groups, and that which corresponds to the co-constructed representations that derive from or justify these positions. dc.descriptionEn este texto se presenta una reflexión teórica sobre la relación entre la noción del “espíritu del tiempo”, en alemán “Zeitgeist”, el concepto de representación y la teoría de las representaciones sociales, a partir de la revisión del estado de la cuestión en el contexto de la Francia contemporánea. La noción de espíritu del tiempo ha sido un referente relevante en el campo de la cultura mediática en las últimas dos décadas. La relación entre el espíritu del tiempo y la teoría de las representaciones sociales puede abordarse considerando a la representación como contenido del espíritu del tiempo y/o como su resultado, es decir como sistema de ideas que orienta las posiciones del público. El enfoque que se impone entonces es distinguir bien en el análisis del espíritu del tiempo la parte que corresponde, cuando se trata de un problema particular, a un sistema de representaciones sociales que sirva de base para la identificación de las posiciones adoptadas por los individuos o los grupos, y la que corresponde a las representaciones co-construidas que se deriven de estas tomas de posición o las justifiquen.es-ES
