Título :	Dinámica socioeconómica en la región del norte de coclé

Descripción :	Between January and March 2004, a survey was carried out amongst 169 agriculturalists of the Northern Coclé province, with the aim of identifying the relationship between the management of agricultural-ecosystems, the quality of life of the agriculturalists and their attitude to the amplification project on the Panama Canal. It was found that 85.2% of the agriculturalists obtained annual earnings of less than 1 000 US dollars, with an average annual self consumption of 383.05 US dollars. The efficiency level in the use of the labour force and also of land use showed values levels below the national average. Quality of life was also low in 82.3% of the cases and correlated positively with the efficiency levels and total income levels. The majority of the agriculturalists of the northern region of Coclé have a negative attitude towards the extension project. A positive attitude was achieved from the farmers with least land, those closest to the urban centres and those with greater activity outside the agro-ecological system
