Descripción :	This article examines the relationship between Marxism and the Field of Labor and Education in Brazil. It discusses the theoretical and epistemological contradictions of this field with dialectical historical materialism. It is rooted in the thesis of an epistemological rupture in the work of Marx, the theoretical problematic of the multiple determinations in Marxist dialectics, and reflections on the theoretical problem of the determinations and over-determinations in the Marxist analysis of historical processes. O artigo examina a relação entre marxismo e a Área de Trabalho e Educação no Brasil. Discute contradições teóricas e epistemológicas da Área com o materialismo histórico dialético. Para isto se baseia na tese da ruptura epistemológica na obra de Marx, na problemática teórica das múltiplas determinações na dialética marxista e nas reflexões sobre o problema teórico das determinações e sobredeterminações na análise marxista dos processos históricos.
