| Descripción : | Neste estudo foram usados dados diários entre 25 de janeiro de 1999 e 25 de janeiro de 2009 para comparar o comportamento dos ativos taxa de câmbio e valor das ações do IBOVESPA; o período representa 10 anos de existência da taxa de câmbio flutuante. Verificou-se que o comportamento da série de um ativo é quase que a imagem de espelho do comportamento da série do outro ativo. Foi ainda testada empiricamente a questão da previsibilidade do retorno dos dois ativos. Finalmente, investigou-se a possibilidade de haver um efeito-calendário do tipo dia-da-semana e mês-do-ano tanto no que diz respeito ao valor dos ativos quanto ao que se refere aos retornos desses ativos. ABSTRACT The IBOVESPA and the Exchange Rate During the 10 Years of the Floating Rate In this study we use daily data going from 25 of January of 1999 to 25 of January of 2009 to compare the behavior of the assets exchange rate and share values of IBOVESPA; this period represents ten years of the flexible exchange rate regime. It was found that the behavior of one asset is almost the mirror image of the behavior of the other asset. Also tested was the question of the predictability of the return of the two assets. Finally, it was investigated the possibility of having a calendar effect of the type day-of-the-week and month-of-the-year with respect to either the value of the assets or to the rate of return of such assets. |
