dc.descriptionThe aim of this article is to analyze why the British novelist H. G. Wells (1866-1946) can be considered as the first great contemporary massifier of disturbing futures. To do this, in this work a historical genealogy of this concept in the Anglo-Saxon and European tradition will be made, to finally examine how this idea was represented in Wells's early narratives. Based on the study of various cultural artifacts, the purpose of this writing is to revalue the use of aesthetic instruments as possible objects of analysis for the historical discipline. Trying to open a methodological dialogue among history, literature and cultural studies, the artistic and intellectual production of the English writer and the more general historical context of the Western world in the 20th century will be simultaneously investigated.en
dc.descriptionEl propósito de este artículo es analizar por qué el novelista británico H. G. Wells (1866-1946) puede ser considerado como el primer gran masificador contemporáneo de los futuros inquietantes. Para ello, en este trabajo se reconstruirá una genealogía histórica de dicho concepto dentro de la tradición anglosajona y europea, para finalmente examinar cómo aparece representada esta idea en las narraciones tempranas de Wells. A partir del estudio de diversos artefactos culturales, la finalidad de este escrito es revalorizar el uso de los instrumentos estéticos como posibles objetos de análisis para la disciplina histórica. Tratando de abrir un diálogo metodológico entre la historia, la literatura y los estudios culturales, se indagará, de manera simultánea, en la producción artística e intelectual del escritor inglés y en el contexto histórico más general del mundo occidental en el siglo XX.es
