dc.descriptionEl sistema de salud de Costa Rica se vio afectado por la crisis económica que atravesó el país a finales de los setenta y principios de los ochenta, lo cual implicó una reforma basada en las políticas promovidas por el Consenso de Washington tomando en cuenta las particularidades históricas y sociales que tenía el país. De esta manera, la reforma pasó por dos fases: una, en los ochentas, caracterizada por los esfuerzos de estabilización financiera que buscaban evitar la quiebra del sistema de seguridad social, pero sin provocar un deterioro en los positivos pero frágiles avances hacia la universalidad de los años anteriores. Y otra, que se inicia en los noventa, más bien enfocada a la reforma propiamente dicha del sistema de salud, buscando adecuarlo a las nuevas realidades del entorno pero, de nuevo, sin sacrificar la visión original de un sistema de salud que buscaba ser integral.-
dc.descriptionCosta Rica's health system was affected by the economic crisis that the country went through in the late 1970s and early 1980s, which implied a reform based on the policies promoted by the Washington Consensus taking into account the historical particularities and social that the country had. In this way, the reform went through two phases: one, in the eighties, characterized by financial stabilization efforts that sought to avoid the bankruptcy of the social security system, but without causing a deterioration in the positive but fragile progress towards universality of previous years. And another, which began in the nineties, rather focused on the reform of the health system itself, seeking to adapt it to the new realities of the environment but, again, without sacrificing the original vision of a health system that sought to be comprehensive .-
