dc.descriptionThis paper presents a discussion of the repeated topos of the Libyan enemy in Old Kingdom royal depictions. The presence of this one common enemy ofEgypt within repeated written and pictorial sources from the Old Kingdom parallels indicates a nationalist feeling, one connected to the self-identity of theEgyptians, can be traced to a very early time in history. The fact that this “theme” persists throughout Egyptian history is of great importance. Libyan-Egyptianrelations must be seen as not merely hostile in attitude from a primordial era, but also as a theme that could be re-used over and over to magnify the kings’military performances.en-US
dc.descriptionEste trabajo presenta una discusión sobre el repetido topos del enemigo libio en las representaciones reales del Reino Antiguo. La presencia recurrente de este enemigo común de Egipto en fuentes pictóricas y escritas equivalentes del Reino Antiguo, indica que un sentimiento nacionalista conectado con la autoidentificación de los egipcios puede ser rastreado hasta una época muy temprana de la historia. De gran importancia es el hecho de que este “tema” persiste a lo largo de la historia egipcia. Las relaciones entre egipcios y libios deben ser vistas no solamente como actitudes hostiles desde una época pri- mordial sino también como un tema que podía ser re una y otra vez para magnificar las actividades militares de los reyes.es-ES
