dc.descriptionThis article is about memory and representation; it attempts to define concepts and establish the different movements in terms of their use in social sciences, especially in historiography; the paper also aims at building some bridges between meanings and visualizing the strength of both concepts. Nowadays, the two concepts are widely used by historians; memory is historicized and used as a source in the history of the present, and the representation is one of the most important categories of analysis for the new cultural History. There are correlations between the notions that allow us to reflect on the possibility of analyzing them together in certain contexts, and each one refers to the construction of identity and social cohesion of the different populations studied. en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente artículo trata sobre memoria y representación; intenta definir las nociones y establecer los diferentes desplazamientos en torno a su utilización en las ciencias sociales y específicamente en la historiografía, además pretende tender algunos puentes entre las acepciones, y visibilizar la fuerza de ambas. En la actualidad, los dos conceptos son utilizados ampliamente por los historiadores; lamemoria se historiza y se usa como fuente en la historia del presente, y la representación es una de las categorías de análisis más importantes para la Nueva Historia Cultural. Entre las nociones existen correlaciones que permiten reflexionar sobre la posibilidad de analizarlas conjuntamente en determinados contextos, y cada una de ellas nos remite a la construcción de identidades y de cohesión social de las distintas sociedades estudiadas.es-ES
