Inducing signals for consumption (SIC) are one of the factors that influence whether or not a smoker lights the next cigarette. SIC impact non-nicotine-dependent smokers (FND) more than dependent smokers (FD). FND are not nicotine dependent, and their carbon monoxide levels tend to be lower. FD shown higher (dependent) nicotine and carbon monoxide levels. This study evaluated the level of anxiety of individuals against images related to the product (cigarettes and cigarette pack) and whether there were differences between visual and olfactory inducers concerning cigarette consumption. FD shown higher nicotine and carbon monoxide levels. Participants were more anxious at the images showing cigarettes coming out of the pack. There were no differences between visual and olfactory inducers about cigarette consumption. However, the occurrence of smoking was higher in FD than in FND. Therefore, it is essential to classify the type of smoker in future research that aims to evaluate this population.en-US
