Descripción :	This article suggests that the evaluation and the credit validation in theUniversity of Costa Rica (UCR) have been valuable to improve quality.However, according to the experience of the School of Psychology, it isrequired to continue with a strategy that involves the goals and policies of theacademic units, establishing as well the actions to anticipate and respond to asituation of change and uncertainty. The strategy goes beyond the quality: itimplies innovation, systemic vision, plan making, plan execution, and plansupervision. It is required an innovative and entrepreneur university thatcarries, even more, its mission to the practice. Este artículo propone que la evaluación y la acreditación en la Universidad deCosta Rica (UCR) han sido valiosas para generar calidad. Sin embargo, deacuerdo con la experiencia de la Escuela de Psicología, se requiere continuarcon una estrategia que integre las metas y políticas de las unidadesacadémicas y, a la vez, establezca las acciones para anticiparse y responder aun entorno de cambio e incertidumbre. La estrategia va más allá de la calidad;implica innovación, visión sistémica, trazar planes, ejecutarlos ysupervisarlos. Se requiere de una universidad innovadora y emprendedora quelleve, aún más, su misión a la práctica.
