Descripción :	La integración social de las personas con Síndrome Down ha estado marcada por diversas barreras que impiden su éxito en la relación asertiva con los miembros de la sociedad y ser actor de desarrollo sostenible pues, afirma Kelly (1992), la existencia de un retraso en las funciones cognitivas los posicionó históricamente en términos de subnormalidad y con deficiencias interpersonales incidiendo en la evolución de sus habilidades sociales. Aunado a lo anterior, la afectación en la dimensión psicosocial de esta población estuvo marcada por la conceptualización de discapacidad en los modelos de prescindencia y rehabilitación que, desde un enfoque económico capitalista, eran innecesarios dado que no fortalecían la adquisición del capital nacional o contribuían en la resolución de las demandas sociales. In addition to the above, the impact on the psychosocial dimension of this population was marked by the conceptualization of disability in the models of exclusion and rehabilitation that, from a capitalist economic perspective, were unnecessary since they did not strengthen the acquisition of national capital or contributed in the resolution of social demands.
