dc.descriptionRESUMEN La novela histórica presenta características propias, y diferentes a la mayoría de las novelas, pues se encuentra en el medio de la literatura y de la historia. El equilibrio no siempre es fácil, ni sus resultados óptimos. La Cicatriz es una novela catalogada como histórica, que relata la vida (parte de ella) de Manuel Baigorria, unitario que se refugió en tierra de ranqueles en la década de 1830. Manuel Baigorria escribió sus Memorias; sin embargo, lo que podría bastar para ilustrarnos sobre su vida y sobre la época, no es suficiente, en parte porque toda biografía implica una subjetividad innegable, y a veces un disfraz sobre determinados acontecimientos, o sobre la forma de contarlos. La autora refiere su existencia a través de ese testimonio fundamental de las Memorias, y expone las disyuntivas que enfrentó en el proceso de escritura de la novela. La Cicatriz abarca poco más de dos décadas, las mismas que Manuel Baigorria transcurre entre los indios ranqueles; este trabajo explicita las razones acerca de por qué la autora escribió una novela histórica, y no una novela.PALABRAS CLAVE: Manuel Baigorria – Frontera – Ranqueles – Destierro.NOTES ON THE CREATION PROCESS OF HISTORICAL NOVEL THE SCAR (EDICIONES B, 2008).ABSTRACT The historical novel presents its own characteristics, and is different from most novels, because it is between literature and history. The balance is not always easy, nor the results of the best. The Scar is a novel considered as historical, that tells the life (part of it) of Manuel Baigorria, an Unitarian that took refuge amongst the ‘ranqueles’ in the 1830 decade. Manuel Baigorria wrote his Memorias; nevertheless, what would be enough to illustrate his life and the period, is not sufficient, in part because all biographies imply an undeniable subjectivity, and sometimes a disguise about certain happenings, or about the way they are told. The authoress relates his life through the fundamental testimony of the memoirs, and sets out the dilemmas she faced in the process of writing the novel. The Scar covers a little more than two decades, the same ones that Manuel Baigorria lives amongst the ‘ranquel’ Indians; this work explains the reasons why the authoress wrote an historical novel, and not a novel.KEY WORDS: Manuel Baigorria – Frontier – Ranqueles – Exile.es-ES
