dc.descriptionArab presence in Mexico dates back from over a century and nowadays,Mexican community of meso-oriental origin is totally inserted in thepolitical, economic, artistic or social processes of the country.However, a study of Arab immigration in Mexico is not simple at all.Data provided by the Mexican Secretary of Government are nottrustworthy.National censuses are incomplete and they wereconscientously made after the Mexican revolution. Recording ofimmigrants began to be done systematically only after 1926. In spiteof all these difficulties, this happens to be the only written essay whichis directly based on the cards issued by the Secretary for the recordingof foreigners.Despite these limitations, our research has the merit of being the firstone to be made on the grounds of official information but it has beencompared with different estimates made by several immigrants or withmay be incomplete censuses , but any way it gives us a clear picture ofthe general process.es-ES
