Descripción :	Tomando como punto de partida que el poder en las relaciones internacionales se desarrolla a través de diferentes mecanismos, los cuales integran estrategias duras con acciones encaminadas a obtener ventajas sobre los demás sin el uso de la fuerza (Barnett y Duvall, 2005), el siguiente texto retoma el concepto de soft power para examinar las estrategias de intervención cultural de los EEEUU en algunos países de América Latina durante los años setenta2, en plena guerra fría. La propuesta desarrolla a partir de algunas Convenciones Panamericanas el interés del gobierno de los EEUU por influir en las representaciones difundidas en los textos escolares. Luego muestra las modificaciones implementadas en algunos países en sus sistemas educativos, para culminar con el análisis de las formulaciones de Rudolph Atcon para todos los niveles del sistema educativo de los países latinoamericanos, develando en el proceso descrito los intereses implícitos en el sostenimiento y profundización de su poder hegemónico en esta región. Revisando las notas esenciales usadas por autores como Nye (2003) y Barnett y Duvall (2005) para definir la noción de soft power y usándolo como categoría analítica para aproximarse a unas variadas y significativas series documentales que dan cuenta del uso de estrategias diplomáticas para lograr fines políticos, el texto puede resultar especialmente útil a la hora de entender el poder y la eficiencia del poder blando. 1. BIBLIOGRAFIA Taking as a starting point that power in international relations is developed through different mechanisms, which integrate tough strategies with actions aimed at obtaining advantages over others without the use of force (Barnett and Duvall, 2005), the following text takes up the concept of soft power to examine the strategies of cultural intervention of the US in some Latin American countries during the 1970s2, in the middle of the cold war. The proposal develops from some Pan American Conventions the interest of the US government to influence the representations disseminated in school textbooks. Then it shows the modifications implemented in some countries in their educational systems, to culminate with the analysis of Rudolph Atcon's formulations for all levels of the educational system of Latin American countries, revealing in the process described the implicit interests in the maintenance and deepening of its hegemonic power in this region. Reviewing the essential notes used by authors such as Nye (2003) and Barnett and Duvall (2005) to define the notion of soft power and using it as an analytical category to approach a varied and significant documentary series that account for the use of diplomatic strategies to achieve For political purposes, the text can be especially helpful in understanding the power and efficiency of soft power.
