| dc.description | O artigo trata dos movimentos de trabalhadores rurais surgidos a partir de 1970, procurando identificar o caráter e as formas de expressão de lutas empreendidas por assalariados e pequenos agricultores nordestinos. A autora aborda tais movimentos sociais no contexto de intervenção do Estado na região, ressaltando as inter-relações entre políticas públicas e o processo de mobilização e de organização no campo. Assinala-se, igualmente, a crescente violência que atinge trabalhadores rurais e suas estratégias de resistências. A análise se reporta ao papel da Igreja Católica na formação de uma consciência crítica acerca dos direitos e à importância das entidades sindicais enquanto canal de participação política. The article deals with rural workers' movements that have arisen since 1910 and attempts to identify the character and forms of expression of struggles undertaken by wage earners and small farmers in the northeast. The author approaches such social movements in the context of state intervention in the region, emphasizing the interrelationship between official policies and the process of mobilization and organization in the countryside. The increasing violence affecting rural workers and their strategies of resistance are also highlighted. The analysis refers to the role of the Catholic Church in Imbuing workers with a critical awareness of their rights and to the importance of labour organizations as a channel for participation in the political process. | pt-BR |
