Descripción :	Este artigo objetiva apresentar a relação teórica entre a noção de democracia e o conceito de sujeito presentes no trabalho de Alain Touraine. Tem por base a obra "O que é a democracia?", 1996; e parte da hipótese de que tal relação teórica estaria diretamente relacionada ao núcleo de questões levantadas pelo autor, e que concerne o mundo pós-industrial. Após breve introdução, sobre emergências da modernidade, apresento e analiso o novo paradigma social, proposto por Touraine, as mudanças sofridas pela democracia enquanto necessidade de afirmação das identidades, que, no limite, indica o lugar do ator social nesse contexto. Assim, pretende-se contribuir para a Teoria Sociológica Contemporânea. The aim of this article is to present the theoretical relationship between the notion of democracy and the concept of the "subject", always present at Alain Touraine works. It is based on "What is democracy” issued in 1997. This essay has as start point the assumption that such theoretical relationship would directly be related to the central questions pointed out by the author and in the same way it refers to the post industrial world. Just after a brief introduction about the Modernity emergencies, I explain and make an analysis as well, about the new social paradigm, as proposed by Touraine; the changes imposed by democracy like the necessity of the identities affirmation, which, at the border limits, just indicates the right place of the social actor in this context. Thus, I expect to have contributed a little bit more with the Contemporary Sociological Theory.
