The objective of this article has been to conduct a review of the existing literature in the line of research on the adoption of electronic commerce in SMEs globally. The methodology and analysis consisted of a simple bibliometric review, using the Scopus and Core Web of Science databases. The results show that studies on this subject are scarce; It was also determined that the largest studies were conducted in the 2000s and, although new research has been published in recent years, these have been reduced. Likewise, this phenomenon has not been examined in many regions, studies are concentrated in developing countries and Asia, there are few studies in Central and South America, as well as Africa and some Asian countries.en-US
