| Descripción : | Th e objective of this article is to analyze the spatial impact of the economic integration between Mexico and United States on the urban system of a transborder region like Ciudad Juárez-El Paso. Th e economic integration is characterized by the presence of phenomena of strong urban interaction like the maquiladora industry and the retail commerce among others whom shows a regular pattern of spatial location. Th e study has a spatial approach through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Th e methodology used the analysis of land use changes during the 1984-2004 period of time that required the use of two satellite imagines like Landsat MSS y Landsat TM. Respecto a la orbita que recorre este satélite, el área de las ciudades estudiadas está registrada en la escena 3238. Th e results show that we are at the initial stage of a process of conformation of a transborder urban structure where each city has a diff erent function. |
