dc.descriptionA partir de las informaciones censales del siglo XX se presenta una discusión sobre las evoluciones demográficas que vivió el sur del estado de Veracruz en el transcurso de dicha centuria. Se consideran dos momentos que corresponden a grandes etapas demográficas: la fase de crecimiento (hasta la década de 1990) y sus antecedentes inmediatos, y la fase de estancamiento y pérdida poblacional que caracterizó al territorio en su conjunto durante los años noventa y que continúa hasta nuestros días. Finalmente se discute sobre las diversas variaciones demográficas que vivieron los centros urbanos y el papel de éstos dentro de las dinámicas regionales actuales. A Reading of Recent History of the Sotavento from the Perspective of Demographic VariationsTaking census information of the 20th century as a basis, a discussion on the demographic evolutions is presented for the case of south of the State of Veracruz. Two moments, which correspond to large demographic periods, are considered here: the phase of growth (up until the 1990s) and its immediate antecedents; the phase of stagnation and population loss that has characterized the territory since the 1990s. Finally the diverse demographic variations lived in urban areas are discussed, leading to the consideration of their role in present regional dynamics.es-ES
